Liberty Meeting Room Furniture Restoration -Completed 2023

The complete restoration of all 19 pieces of the 1876 Historic Liberty Fire Company Meeting Room Furniture has been completed.  

This project began in October 2019, just before the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Since the restoration costs for the Liberty Meeting Room were much more than the planned budget estimate, all due to the extent of damage found after the wall and floor coverings were removed, the Board determined that the furniture restoration project must obtain outside funding.

Hence, we set a fund raising project in motion asking our Board, Museum Members, Friends of the Fire Museum and the Community to sponsor a piece of historic furniture for restoration, And now that all 19 furniture pieces have been sponsored and restoration almost completed, we thought it was most appropriate to share with each of you the process and photos of some of the already completed furniture pieces.  We choose to work with Roy Spinka, as he is a relative of a former Berks County Fire Chief, as well as Roy's reputation for excellent craftmanship.

Please note that in the first photo you will see a pile of wood.  That is because Roy completely disassembled each piece and then rebuilt it before reupholstering.  This process will ensure that this 1876 Historic Furniture will be here another 100 years.
